The 2018 World Cup of Golf (known as the 2018 ISPS Handa Melbourne World Cup of Golf for sponsorship reasons) is a golf tournament that will be played from 22–25 November at Metropolitan Golf Club in South Oakleigh, Australia. It will be the 59th World Cup. The format is 72-hole stroke play; the first and third days are four-ball (best ball), and the second and fourth days are foursomes (alternate shot) play.

Qualification

The 28 nations to compete were determined based on the top-ranked players from each country from the Official World Golf Ranking as of 3 September 2018.

These 28 top-ranked players selected a partner from the same country, if such a player was ranked in the top 500 of the OWGR. If there were less than five possible choices in the top 500, a player could choose any of the next five players from that country in the rankings, even if they were ranked outside the top 500. The deadline for teams to be finalized was 20 September

THE PREDICTION

There’s enough of a combination of good current form and local knowledge to fully expect the Australians to come out on top. They know where each other’s strengths lie, Smith with his wedges and short game, Leishman with his accurate irons and putting, so getting it right from tee to green looms as the crucial element. They are both relaxed cats and their capacity to soak up pressure and expectation could well and truly work in their favour.

BETTING

$5.50 Australia

$6 England

$9 USA, Sth Africa

$10 Denmark

$15 China
